Indiana Fever Coach Stephanie White Explains Late-Game Decision in Loss to Liberty

Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White voiced her frustration over officiating following her team’s 90-88 loss to the New York Liberty. The game, which saw 14 lead changes and 15 ties, came down to the final seconds, with Sabrina Ionescu sinking two free throws to give the Liberty the lead.

In the final possession, Caitlin Clark attempted a game-winning shot, but Natasha Cloud stripped the ball, securing the Liberty’s victory. White believed Clark was fouled on the play and criticized the free throw disparity, noting that the Fever had 15 attempts compared to the Liberty’s 32.

White expressed disappointment, stating, “I thought she got fouled. I think it’s pretty egregious what’s been happening to us these last few games.” She emphasized that the Fever are an aggressive team attacking the rim, yet they are not being rewarded with foul calls.

Despite her frustration, White urged her team to focus on controlling what they can and play through adversity. The Fever will look to bounce back in their upcoming games against the Washington Mystics and Connecticut Sun.
