Atlanta Dream Unveils Bold Court Design to Champion Women's Sports
Atlanta, GA – May 22, 2025
The Atlanta Dream made a powerful statement in their season opener by
unveiling a custom black court with neon green accents at State Farm
Arena. The court, emblazoned with the phrase "Pay Some Respect to
Women's Sports," is part of an initiative to elevate the visibility
and recognition of female athletes.
A Historic Moment for the WNBA
The Dream’s decision to debut the court at their home opener against the Indiana
Fever was strategic. With Caitlin Clark’s arrival boosting WNBA
visibility and ticket demand, the Dream seized the opportunity to highlight the
importance of supporting women’s sports.
The venue change from the team’s regular arena to the larger State
Farm Arena was made to accommodate the surge in ticket demand sparked by
Clark’s nationwide popularity. The Dream’s initiative is more than just a court
design—it’s a movement. The team hopes to set a new standard for how brands and
organizations collaborate to elevate female athletes.
Players & Fans React
- Brittney Griner, making her home debut for the
Dream, emphasized how the back-to-back games against Indiana were
preparing the team for the postseason.
- Rhyne Howard acknowledged the challenge of
playing in front of a crowd that included many Fever fans but embraced the
attention, saying, "We want people supporting women’s sports
regardless of the jersey they’re wearing."
